Play SoccerBox is a physical education tool with a variety of uses. Whether you need a soccer rebounder, a bean bag target, or a floor hockey goal, Play SoccerBox replaces the need to drag multiple pieces of equipment out of the storage closet.  “Play SoccerBox” is an easy way to hit all the National Physical Education Standards!  Below are just a few of the many lessons you can use in your physical education class:

2 v 2 - Soccer Box Lesson

CLASS SIZE: 30

Equipment: Red Pennies, 2 Soccer Box, Indoor Soccer ball, 4 cones for corners.

This is essentially a 2v2 soccer game. The red team will split into two groups (Group 1 & 2). Along the same sideline, group 1 will go to a designated corner and group 2 will go to the opposite corner, on the same sideline! The team in a different color or no pinny will split into two groups and do the same. The Groups will line up on the corner designated by a cone. On the whistle, the teacher will throw the ball up in the middle of the playing area. The 4 players at the front of the lines, designated by the cones, will come out and play a 2 v2 soccer game. Whoever scores first gets the point for their team. If 3 minutes pass, then no point will be awarded and the next round will start. Normal Soccer rules apply, however there are no "Goalies". Around the Soccer Box there is a 5 foot radius that cannot be played in. No defense or shooting allowed in this area.

Round 2: As quickly as possible, each group has 100 dips (20 for each person). This can be done and broken up in any order. For example, if I can only complete a set of 10 another person can go before I complete my next 10.

Rest Period: 60 seconds

Round 3: As quickly as possible, each group has 50 box jumps (10 for each person). This can be modified back to step-ups. If you have to make modifications, see if you can get all the people you have to modify the workout for in the same group.

Rest Period: 60 Seconds

Round 4: As quickly as possible, each group has 100 elevated push ups (20 for each person). Students will put their hands on top of the Soccer Box. Their feet will go straight back on the floor, resembling the push up position. Students perform the elevated push ups for a set of 20. If they need to break up their set for rest another member can go. To make this more challenging, students can elevate their feet on the Soccer Box and place their hands on the ground.

Each soccer box should be place underneath the basketball hoop in the basketball key. Students cannot shoot the puck from within the basketball key and the defenders cannot defend. The first team to score stays on the court to continue to play, they are the "King/Queen" of the court. The team that got scored on is now out and the team that was sitting is now in. Each game can last up to 5 minutes. If there is no score, the team that stays on to be the "King/Queen" of the court is the one who took the most shots or played more on their offensive end. Please caution safety with your students before giving them the hockey sticks; no stick above the waist, the puck must stay on the ground.
